World Guitarist Series- Bertaud is back heart and soul.
After his sensational Mendocino County debut at the WCT this
past spring, he received four standing ovations, guitarist
Philippe Bertaud returns as the sixth event in the World
Guitarist Series in a special, one-performance only show at 8
p.m. on Wednesday, Oct. 29.
"After Philippe's first composition the audience
realized they were about to experience a night to
remember," says WCT Production Manager Stephanie Chatten in
recalling Bertaud's April performance. "It was a certainty
he would be returning by popular request."
Bertaud refers to his characteristic style as
"classic-fusion" developed from his eclectic musical
background and world travels. He refined his talents in both
classical and jazz at the National Conservatory of Nice, under
the renowned composer Jacques Charpentier.
"At heart I am a classical artist, but with a soul for
the Latin strong rhythms," Philippe remarks. His
compositions and arrangements reflect a true harmony of both his
heart and soul classical with a warm Latin infusion.
While he tours the world appearing at such events as The
Montreal Jazz festival, Euro San Francisco, Winter Festival in
Rio De Janeiro and numerous other sit's venues like WCT that
offer Bertaud a more intimate experience with the audience.
Gifted with the universal language of music, Bertaud speaks
to his audience in a unique way, creating a collective soul with
himself at its heart. "Philippe Bertaud is an artist of
true communication and his performances not only offer the
audience a superior quality concert, but also, manage to
envelope them in his music." Euro San Francisco
Michael Fagien, publisher of JAZZIZ magazine, states in his
Montreal Jazz Festival review of Bertaud, "Guitaristic
wizardry Michael Hedge's spirit lives on between the hearts,
hands, wood and steel of standard bearers like Bertaud. Philippe
is easily that good."
Don Heckman's review in the Los Angeles Times remarks,
"rich musical imagination astonishing virtuosity dazzling
technique. Great Philippe Bertaud!"
